Leagues

Curling is a great way to meet, play and socialize with your neighbours, and the Almonte Curling Club has leagues for curlers of all levels of experience. You can mix and match leagues to fit your curling goals.

Our instructional leagues allow new or less experienced curlers to learn and develop their skills in a friendly environment.

Check out the Learn to Curl and Adult Development (U5) leagues for newer adult curlers, and Little Rocks, U18 and U21 if your kid is interested in curling.

Our social leagues are more recreationally and socially oriented, although there’s always a competitive spirit. These leagues are suitable for intermediate curlers who have some experience and are looking to enhance their skills in a less competitive setting. They are great options for curlers graduating from the Adult Development (U5) league.

The fixed 3-draw social leagues on Tuesday morning, Tuesday afternoon, and Thursday evening are a great choice if you want to play with the same curlers for six to seven weeks at a time. In these leagues, if you can’t make a game, you’re expected to find a spare from our spares list.

The Wednesday evening fixed social league allows individuals or teams to register and play as a team for the entire season. The Sturling league for curlers with mobility limitations also allows you to sign up a team for the entire season. Individuals can join these leagues and teams will be made up based on those individual registrations. In these leagues, if you can’t make a game, you’re expected to find a spare from our spares list.

The Monday morning (women), Tuesday evening, Friday afternoon, Friday evening, Sunday evening, and Day social leagues are best for you if you can’t commit to a regular team for work, family or other reasons. Teams are made up with the curlers who are there on that day, and if you can’t make a game you don’t have to find a spare.

Our competitive leagues offer a more competitive feel while keeping the friendly environment. These leagues are ideal for those who enjoy a consistent team dynamic and a higher level of competition. They are best suited for intermediate to experienced curlers who have a good understanding of the game and are looking to challenge themselves against other skilled teams.

The Monday evening, and Thursday Women’s fixed competitive leagues allow you to register with your team and play with that team for the whole season. The league convenor may be able to find a team for an individual curler. In these leagues, if you can’t make a game, you’re expected to find a spare from our spares list.

For more information on the leagues offered, consult the descriptions below and the weekly schedule in the Club Calendar.  If you have questions about leagues, including being on a waitlist, please contact league@almontecurling.ca.
