President's Message

From the Hack,

Another month in the books and what a month it was!

Earlier this month at a special budget meeting held by the Mississippi Mills Municipal Council, our long awaited, ice plant approval was finally granted. You, the membership, were instrumental in this win and now we can look forward to a long bright future. It was wonderful for the municipality to recognize the importance of our club and what we give back to our community.

The latest bonspiel was a huge success. The Turkeyspiel has always proven to be among the more popular events. This year’s edition was no exception. Matthew, Janice, Laura, and Greta all walked away with a 15lb bird.  The buffet at the end would rival any 5 star dining facility. The field of players was the strongest ever and the competition was intense. As they say the cream will always rise to the top. This year’s winners had to stay soberish and keep their wits about them. Jill, Deb, Andrew, and Don will have their names forever etched on this coveted cup. Thank you, Jill and the many elves who coordinated the Turkeyspiel. Without a fleet of volunteers these events don’t happen.

Next up is the Family Fun Spiel on December 27th. This event is fully booked and promises to be an excellent way to end 2023. A big thank you to our hosts Adriana and Matt.

The Almonte Curling Club has another big winner. Our very own Rachel Stoddart. Rachel Skipped her, Carp based, u-18 team to a win in a recent qualifier in Metcalfe. Rachel and her team will head to Thunder Bay this February to compete in the Ontario Winter Games.  This qualifier was a real test for Team Stoddart as they were forced to knock off the top-rated team in the finals. Best of luck in Thunder Bay Rachel! We will all be cheering you on.

Scott, Deb, Lindsay, and Connie have spearheaded a soon to open online store for you to order your ACC apparel. Two different coloured logos have been approved by the board and the clothing options look incredible. Thank you for taking this on.

Lastly, A friendly reminder that the ACC is a fragrance-free environment. Please be respectful of others and leave the colognes and perfumes for date nights.
